The Special Branch prides itself on the work it does with dried willow, continuously inventing new crafts and projects, from large display sculptures to simple garden decorations and even toys you make yourself, everything we make is made with the intention of teaching to others so nothing is beyond your capabilities.

Throughout the year we run many workshops for a wide range of groups -

  • Schools,
  • Social groups,
  • Gardening clubs,
  • Scout troops,
  • Adult education centres,
  • Birthday parties,
  • Home educated students,
As well as these visits we also run workshops from the coppice and attend many open days, country fairs and public events - dates can be found on the Whats on page.

At public events we run mini drop in workshops that give people the chance to have a go at an ancient craft with a modern twist and make their own willow item, these vary from 2 minutes to half an hour depending on item chosen and the skill of the maker.

Everything taught at these events can be be made by anyone, young and old, we will provide all the instructions and materials needed for you to make something special all by yourself. (help will always be there if needed)

We also provide more structured workshops that start simple and work through a selection of items increasing in difficulty whilst building your confidence with each one completed. These workshops can be done at almost any venue, inside or out, half day through to full week, we provide everything needed to get going.

If you are looking for a bespoke willow item, something for a garden, perhaps a centrepiece for a display or maybe a workshop please contact us for further information and details.
